Four guys got together in 1993 and talked about being in a band together; most knew each other already. They were Steve Marvel (lead vocals), Mike Simmons (bass), Rich Flynn (lead guitar) and Matt Berg (drums). Together they voted on a band name – Public Eye. Public Eye plays in bars and clubs mostly, but they also perform at weddings, wineries, festivals, corporate events and private events. They play at some events year after year. Over the years, Public Eye has performed all over the San Francisco Bay Area.
After drummer Matt left the band to pursue other music endeavors, Eric Wood joined the band as its drummer. Lead guitarist Rich Flynn left the band for other pursuits. Jimmy Corkery then joined Public Eye as lead guitarist. Jim had actually played on occasion with Public Eye in the past. Rick Spitaleri and Jim Agostino played keyboards for a few years. Jim Hamilton joined as Public Eye’s drummer after Eric left the band. In 2021, long-time bass player, Mike Simmons left the band and in came new bass player, Jeff Peck. Joining Public Eye in 2022 are musicians Jaroslaw Syzdek (keyboards), and Grant Mader (lead guitarist).
The Pleasanton Downtown Association’s (PDA) popular Concert in the Park series will take place every Friday night from June 10th through August 26th, featuring an eclectic mix of music from classic rock, blues and big band to today's hits. The free concerts run from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and takes place at Lions Wayside Park on the corner of First Street and Neal Street.
While guests are allowed to put out blankets and chairs (at their own risk) in Lions Wayside and Delucchi Parks, they are asked to wait until the morning of the concert to do so. The use of rocks to hold down blankets is prohibited, as large rocks can damage lawn-mowing equipment. Also, the use of plastic tarps, which can burn the grass, is not allowed.
