Meet Hallmark Published Artist James R. Tracey

Come meet Hallmark published artist James R. Tracey, come talk with James about his technique where he uses pen, ink and tempura to create his detailed animal piece portraits. Whether he is creating a tiger or a bird each piece is colorful and so detailed the animal looks like it is in the room with you.

James R Tracey grew up in Ohio and started at a very young age with crayons coloring in great detail in his coloring books. James moved to California after a natural disaster in his home town and now resides in Oakdale California. In high school James took every art and craft’s class that was available to hone his technique, fueled by his love for art. He entered art contests and state fair’s where he won awards for his art. He also completed a national course with the Art Institute Academy, which helped him to refine his art.  James has created many images for Hallmark greeting cards as a freelance artist. James also received a scholarship to attend the Arts and Crafts Institute of Oakland. Ink and pencil are his favorite mediums, but he also uses many colored mediums that have produced many of his creative art pieces today.
